Insert witty remark here...
So I'm lost and searching for a subject. Sue me.

It's 9:10pm on Friday night. I have completed one week of training on the new version of the firewall software that my employer has settled on. I have felt rather oddly sick these last two days, so ill that I seriously considered skipping class on Thursday and today. If you've been paying attention, you'll know that I look at training as little mini-vacations where I become more valuable and get to avoid my manager... so that should tell you just how much my stomach was bothering me.

Jen arrived last night, not terribly long after I made it home from training. We sat around while I finished up a phone call, then watched the tape of Babylon Park that the illustrious chebutykin sent me. Not long after that we went to get some quick chow over at KFC, came back and started watching Unbreakable. About halfway through the movie we turned it off so that Jen might experience the goodness that Cartoon Network delivers on Sunday and Thursday nights, a little delicacy lovingly known as Adult Swim. We watched some bizarre cartoons, and then I slouched off to bed so I could try and get some sleep. I wasn't feeling good, and it showed as the night progressed: I tossed, I turned, I elbowed Jen, I got up and drank copious amounts of iced tea to try to keep my temperature down, etc etc etc. I slept in this morning much later than I really should have, shrugged into some clothes and then went off to training. We got out around 3pm (thankfully) and I drove home. Jen and I got to spend some quality time together while Chris and Lana were at work, then decided to see if we could take in dinner and a show....

Which lead us to Joe's Crab Shack for dinner, since Jen decided that she was in the mood or seafood, and oddly enough I was too. It was a good thing we left early -- we had about a 35-40 minute wait, and the place was JUMPING... and it was only quarter after six in the evening. We had our respective beverages (Mike's Hard Lemonade for her, Corona for me), ate our appetizers (Cheese sticks) and then tore into the main dishes when they arrived. I had grilled shrimp with a steak, mashed potatos, vegetables and a side of fried shrimp. Jen had grilled shrimp, shrimp scampi, crab-stuffed shrimp and snow crab legs plus rice and vegetables. Once we finished our meals our waitress offered dessert and I, like a foolish consumer, opted for the strawberry cheesecake... which enticed Jen to have some as well, except with chocolate since she's not a strawberry type of person.

To borrow a phrase from Cheb, "I am a bloated seafood tick."

We rolled ourselves out of the Shack at around 7:30, and decided we were both too stuffed to go see the movie. This probably was not a bad choice as we each are still suffering from the effects of food coma (although Jen tells me as I type that she is doing just fine... I envy her digestive powers). We'll probably catch up on the movie tomorrow, either opting for K-PAX or Monsters, Inc. Each one looks like it'll be a fairly decent show, and maybe by going tomorrow we'll avoid some of the crowds that would be at the theaters on a Friday night (with completely gorgeous weather to boot).

That's the brief overview. More thoughts, rants and riffs coming soon (Probably Sunday night).

Mai Tai?

I didn't know it was mine, I thought it was left in the closet by the previous occupant....
