I made it home from Captain's in tired, but functional form at approximately 4:30am this morning. I had a good time. Masem, Almanzo, Captain and I spent most of the time at the house, shooting the breeze and goofing off. In the middle of the afternoon we went to the Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum
in Rockford, Il. After that, we visited Captain's place of work, the WREX 13 TV station
, which is roughly between the Tinker Museum and his house. They've got some remarkably old equipment in there, and some really cool and very new machinery as well. It's an interesting place! The set is way smaller than I had imagined, and very different in person from what I've seen on TV. It just goes to show you that TV lies like a dog, even without meaning to, really. Cap also introduced our little group to Nate Higgins, the station's meteorologist. So now I can say I've met a TV celebrity, of sorts.
After our visit to the TV station we stopped at a grocery store and picked up supplies for dinner, namely steaks, chips, cheese puffs (yay!) and some veggies. We got back to the house, grilled up dinner, watched some Doctor Who (The Caves of Androzani
, which was a remarkably good serial in my uneducated opinion), smoked a cigar or two, consumed a moderate amount of alcohol, shot the breeze some more and then listened to some excellent Country music that Almanzo'd brought with him. It was around 3:00 in the morning when I noticed Masem was nodding off on the couch, and realized I was thinking about it as well. I decided that I wanted to come home and sleep in my own bed, though, so I excused myself for the night and headed home.
Today has been slow and quiet. Twan's been rather withdrawn and sulky today, barely speaking at all. He's engrossed himself in Everquest, his game addiction of choice. He really only communicated with me via ICQ, even though I was in the same room. I know why he's acting like this, but I really won't go into it, since A)It doesn't particularly affect me and B)it's not really my business.
I myself have spent the day reading a "medical thriller," which is something sort of new for me. So far I like it and think I may continue the trend. I also hopped over to Verizon Wireless
and turned some features on for my personal cell phone -- I noticed it wasn't doing Caller ID or call waiting, features it was supposed to have but evidentally got turned off by accident at some point. The other part of the day has been spent lazily ICQing people and chatting on the IRC. I think I may go take a nap, since I'm feeling drowsy still.
I don't want to go to work tomorrow. I loathe that place with an intense passion.I'm tired of screwin' up, tired of going down,
Tired of myself, tired of this town
