Judging by the number of incredulous responses I got online, I guess… - Paint It Black
Living the American dream one heartbreaking piece at a time

Judging by the number of incredulous responses I got online, I guess there's something I need to say here.... and that is: Yes, people, I started drinking beer at ten o'clock.

In in the morning.

On a Sunday. It set me on the way to a buzz that lasted more than 14 hours. Furthermore, I've been doing this for the last 8 weeks or so.

Most of you have known me for a number of years. So I ask, strictly out of curiousity and for my own edification: why does this come as a surprise to anyone?

Genet was having White Russians and nobody's giving her these weird looks.....c_c

Well, for one thing, you didn't mention her White Russians.

And while I might have been surprised initially, I'll admit that I really should have known better :-)

(and hey, give me the right company, and I'm right there with ya...)

Yes. Yes, you should have! Tsk! I'm so disappointed in you, Duncan. How could you let me down like that? I am shocked. Shocked, and appalled. Twenty-five Hail-Marys and a week of wearing mismatched socks for your punishment.

[give me the right company, and I'm right there with ya]

I'm holding you to that!

Although your "typical" undergraduate experience is meant to include many such alcoholic endeavors anyway, I'd have to say that UR makes it particularly easy to believe in early indulgence.... We have an entire day set aside for drinking, in addition to the more regular excesses.

I'm more intrigued by the fact that another LJ friend started his brief (over) drinking at 6:15am today.

I've been incredibly tame since it's (=I've) become legal, but then...I also haven't been around my friends very often. Haven't yet reached the stage where drinking alone has much appeal.

you beat me by 2 hours

It was noon before I popped a bottle of wine, got out the glassware and started playing MTA (GTA Vice City multiplayer mod). This is how I celebrate the day before labor day.

why does this come as a surprise to anyone?

Because there was no gin involved?

Sunday is actually the most socially acceptable day for morning drinking. Traditionalists will stick with champagne or mimosas, but a good malty beer is like drinking a bowl of cereal, and can be part of this nutritious breakfast.

Oatmeal stout, anyone?

Hmm. I've tried a Black Russian (nice stuff!), but what's a White Russian?

I was good, I waited until late last night to get meself drunk. Rum and coke. (Interesting, too. I didn't know you could numb your nose and teeth with liquor.)

Ahhhhh.

A spiked latte! ;)

[Add milk.]

Incorrect. Add cream (aka "Half-and-half"), not milk.

Milk is acceptable as a substitute, but the drink will lack body and sweetness.

First Week of Football...

...so what's wrong with drinking beer when the first game starts? (10 am on the West Coast....)
